Hi and welcome to my site. Here you will find information about everyday personal finance matters. You will also find many true stories about people you may even know or can relate to in Real Stories. I don’t try to be all things to all people – but I do have a wealth of knowledge based on many years in financial services, and if I don’t know the answer to a question, chances are I know someone who does. On the Resources page, you will find links to the personal finance blogs I like the most. You will also find several useful spreadsheets to help you figure things out.

Who is Ross Taylor?

I have been a financial adviser for twenty five years. I love helping regular people solve their financial problems, and I love writing – maintaining this website and running my financial planning practice lets me do both.

My clients range in age from high school students looking to start their financial lives on the right foot, all the way to people long retired who are concerned about things like being house rich and cash poor, or providing for and helping their families.

The past ten years, through Ross Taylor & Associates, I have focused on arranging mortgages for any situation, and helping people eliminate their debt and credit problems. Check out all the services we have to offer.

My Qualifications

I studied at the University of Waterloo in Mathematics, and then I took an MBA in Finance at McMaster University. Over the course of my career, I have been a stockbroker, a fee based financial planner, a mortgage broker and a credit counselor.

At one time I was the youngest vice president in the Met Life Group of Companies, holding executive accountability for their retail banking and mutual funds businesses here in Canada.

I am a registered credit counselor with the Ontario Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB), and a licensed mortgage broker agent with the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. (FSCO) My mortgage broker agent license is sponsored by Mortgage Intelligence, and their license number is 10428.  My personal license number is M00800631.
